Accident at Work Injuries in Decline
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is responsible for enforcing and regulating health and safety in the workplace throughout England, Scotland and Wales. They interestingly publish statistics that helps to identity common Accident at Work injuries, problematic industries and proof hopefully that safety in the workplace is improving. From studying their statistics over a recent 10 year period the rates of reported fatal and major injuries has fell by 13% (although they noted that there was an issue with a change made to the recording systems and so an adjustment to this statistic is 22%). There has been an impressive reduction in minor injuries that stands at 33% over this 10 year period. Unfortunately when it comes to workplace diseases the statistics continue to rise, especially with mesothelioma whereby the exposure from as far back as 50 years ago is causing major problems today. Unfortunately the medical progress has not particularly advanced over the years to battle such diseases.
